SKOPE's history starts at a time when exchange programs were as rare as they were expensive. That's when Magno Barros, founder of SKOPE, started to search for opportunities to travel and study abroad. At age 16, Magno brought to his city an exchange program previously available in large cities only, allowing for other students to follow his steps and travel abroad in the following years.

After his exchange program in the US and already determined to help other youth to study abroad, Magno helps to start a volunteer club acting as president and governor. At a time before internet, when access to information was more difficult, he helped students coming to Brazil and those going abroad.

He continues interested in travel and decides to go abroad again to further his studies. This time, he is granted a prestigious scholarship for the computer sciences program at the University of Guelph, one of the best in Canada. This is the period his ties to Canada grow stronger and would lead to his immigration to that country years later.

His passion for travel finally becomes a full time job and Magno starts promoting international exchange programs, guiding students before and during their trips. At the same time, he starts exploring other forms of travel and back packs in Europe, Africa and South America for months at a time. At age of 26, he had visited more than 30 countries.

That year, Magno opens a language school offering programs in English and French and promoting the culture of Canada. The school offers an innovative methodology which mimics the natural process of language acquisition and writing and reading are introduced later in the process. Simultaneously he offers educational trips to Canada, US and Australia.

Magno becomes the Marketing Manager for the University of London, Queen Mary, offering guidance to international students interested in graduate, doctorate and PhD programs in one of the world's best Universities. He also starts and exchange program allowing English students to visit Brazil and get experience in social projects with less privileged communities in Rio.

SKOPE is officially registerd in Ontario, Canada and starts to operate under SKOPE Educational Travel, hosting groups from Brazil from an early start, signaling the amazing growth it would go through in the coming years. From the beginning its programs were designed to offer student the opportunity to learn about their areas of professional and academic interest.

SKOPE opens its first office outside of Canada, offering guidance and support to its Brazilian clients. Gabriel Ribeiro leads the Brazilian team after having lived and studied in Toronto and Vancouver. The Brazilian office begins to offer online and face to face advice and to support and grow corporate and educational partnerships.

With the increase of demand for SKOPE programs in Spain and other Latin American countries, SKOPE opens its office in Colombia, working with spanish speaking students, professionals, Universities and organizations. The Colombian team is expanding and filling the gap for quality support in Latin America.

The Brazilian team expands with the addition of new advisors, at the same time that new and important partnerships are developed with professional associations in the fields of business admnistration, architecture, engineering and many branches of IEL/Federation of Industries.

SKOPE comes from "scope", which defines the limit of our perception and represents our strong opinion that education and travel widens our scope, our world view, expanding horizons and collaborating for a world with lesser borders. The red and white colours represent the company's origins, founded and based in Canada. The paper plane, made from a student's notebook represents the academic aspect of our programs but also the upwards trajectory we wish for our clients. Finally, the line slightly curved mirrors a smile and our happiness in doing what we love the most: travel, study, live.
